BrownBloods
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 14, 2026
BrownBloods (operated by Brian R. Burley (writing as B. Ross Burley)) runs brownbloods.com. This policy explains what we collect when you read, buy or get in touch, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address when you create an account or sign in, including with Google.
- Purchases: what you bought, when, and the amount. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Shipping details: the name and address you enter at checkout when an order includes a physical item.
- Reading activity: which chapters you've opened and finished and your place in the text, so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
- Site usage: pages visited, the site that referred you, campaign tags in the link you followed, and an anonymous visitor ID stored in your browser. We use this to understand how readers find and move through the site.
- Messages: anything you send us, including contact and list sign-up forms and industry inquiries.
- Marketing choice: whether you asked to hear about new chapters and releases.
How we use it
- To give you access to what you've bought and remember your reading progress.
- To process payments, ship orders and send receipts.
- To answer your messages and, for list sign-ups, tell you when a product becomes available.
- To send news about new chapters and releases, only if you said yes. You can opt out at any time.
- To understand and improve the site, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run the site for us, and only what they need:
- Base44, which hosts the site and stores account and reading data.
- Stripe, which processes payments and, where it applies, calculates sales tax.
- Shipping carriers, which receive the delivery details for physical orders.
- TIDAL, whose music players are embedded in the reading experience. When you play one, TIDAL's own privacy policy applies.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our readers or ourselves.
Cookies and browser storage
The site stores small pieces of information in your browser to keep you signed in, hold your cart, remember your reading position and count visits anonymously. Clearing your browser's site data removes them; parts of the site, like sign-in and the cart, won't work without them.
How long we keep it
We keep account, purchase and reading records for as long as your account is open, so your library stays yours. We keep purchase records longer where tax and accounting rules require it. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal information, or to stop marketing emails, by writing to bross@brownbloods.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will tell account holders by email.
